During the heated debate and rhetoric over the debt ceiling increase "negotiations," it was pretty clear that this was more than just political wrangling. It was very evident that negativity and unbridled anger played a major role in the debate. Why?
Opposing views and philosophies between political parties is nothing new; neither is the fact that sometimes, politicians get heated and are at drastic odds with each other. This time though, something was different. The whole nation seemed divided in three: Republicans on one side, Democrats on the other and Tea Party members jumping in the middle.
Now that a debt ceiling increase deal seems at the ready, you'd think people would be relieved, but they're not. There is so much negativity and so many naysayers, it's enough to drain the energy and inspiration out of anyone. Some Democrats are furious with Republicans and their own party (and particularly with Barack Obama it seems), many Republicans are furious with John Bohner and many within Republican leadership. The Tea Party, it seems, will never be happy.
Looking at some political discussion groups and news sites this morning, it was disappointing to see that added into the mix of unhappy, negative people, are political and "economic" pundits -- they out of all seem almost gleeful to spread more doom and gloom.
What happened to trying to see the bright side? Where is the positive thinking and hope?
Folks, no matter what, it's imperative that you don't let all this negativity get to you. Yes, it seems to be everywhere you turn, but if you recognize it for what it really is, you may find you actually feel bad for all of these doom and gloomers...just maybe ;) Stay positive, stay focused and always strive to be motivated and inspired. In other words... don't let them get you down!

And so it begins...
Its not even 24 hours since they announced that Osama Bin Laden had been killed and the conspiracy theories have begun.
On one particular site I visit, one British gentleman wrote: "you're all sheep! Bin Laden was killed ages ago and not by Americans! You wont see his body but only photos. It certainly wasn't Americans that killed him. God you people are so dumb. you will literally swallow anything your government and press say wont you." That's just one example. Though I have to say, I read many postings on blogs and similar sites and the British seemed to be the ones with the most conspiracy theories -- that quote above is mild compared to many I read by our "cousins across the pond." Why all the vitriol guys?

Everyone is Doomed! Doomed I tell you!
"There'll be another depression!" "The liberals will destroy this country!" "Obama is a space Alien!" "The Republicans are all evil!" "Store up gold because the world economy is going to implode!" "Save up food for the end is near I tell you!" "Your children won't have it as good as our Grandparents did." "We're all doomed"
Who wouldn’t be down if all you read or heard all day was doom, gloom and negativity.
Hang on! That is what we seem to read and hear all day! Is it any wonder why people are so on edge and in a heightened state of anxiety?
Here’s just a mild example: “Pleading for unity in a newly divided government, President Barack Obama implored Democratic and Republican lawmakers to rally behind his vision of economic revival for an anxious nation, declaring in his State of the Union address Tuesday night: "We will move forward together or not at all."
The Republican response?: Our day of reckoning is just around the corner.

Bringing an end to the doom and gloom
"True joy results when we become aware of our connectedness to everything."
-Paul Pearsall
"We are shaped by our thoughts; we become what we think. When the mind is pure, joy follows like a shadow that never leaves."

As it was in 2010, will 2011 continue to be the year of the Doomsdayers? All one need do is log on to any major news site and all you read is bad news. Okay, so yes, there is bad news in the world -- anyone knows that. But something else is going on... something almost sinister.
It seems pretty clear that some people relish spreading gloom and making dire predictions of impending doom. Has it been a rough few years? Of course. But is there something more happening here? Have the doomers awoken from their slumber, determined to make the rest of us suffer right alongside them? Yes!
Here's the good news -- we can fight it. Together, we can push back and together we can neutralize the doomers and gloomers.
This is the good fight. This is the mission you know you've been called on to embrace. Look deep inside and ask yourself how you can help break the cycle of negativity. Search within your very soul and find the strength to make a difference.

The sky is falling!
Henny Penny ran around proclaiming that the sky was falling. It wasn't. I've had so many people tell me that they are fed up with all the doom and gloom. One only need turn on the TV or check out a newspaper or news website to see that the media is determined to bring us down. Is there bad news in the world? Of course. But is there good news too? Yes! So then why is that every supposed expert, from political pundits to self-proclaimed economists, are so eager to spread doom and gloom?
They're not reporting facts most of the time...they're merely presenting their own views as fact. They're trying to make the news and not report it. A situation in the EU can't be just a rough time...it has to be the end of the world. "The recovery is over!" they proclaim. "Get ready for an even worse recession," they gleefully shout. Why?
How can we go about our daily lives, getting through our own stresses, when we have the media bombarding us with hysterical rhetoric and doom and gloom?
How do you stay inspired?
